FINAL STAGES OF THE ISAT BEARD CHALLENGE
Novak Teachers and Staff entered into their final days of growing beards in order to motivate students to try their best on the mid-March ISAT tests. These men began growing beards after the winter break and endured over 2 itchy months of whisker growing.
“My wife’s gonna shave me in my sleep if this lasts any longer,” joked Mr. David Pump, Language Arts teacher. “Mine’s getting pretty thick. I can taste my lunch hours later,” said Mr. Offner, Novak King Principal. Most of the hairy participants can’t wait to be shaved and highly await the arrival of a local barber expected to shave the men after the tests.
“I can’t take it any longer,” remarked Mr. Justin Smetters. “I miss my face.” Local barber, Austin Izador, visited Novak King 6th Grade Center to shave the bewhiskered male staff who impatiently awaited his arrival. Ten male staff members, including the principal, Mr. Offner, grew beards for over two months to help motivate students to score high on ISAT test last March. “Too itchy for me,” said Mr. Ullmann, 6th grade Music teacher. “It’s good to have my face back.”
Larry Goltz, the Orchestra teacher who grew the thickest beard, looked like a completely different person after being shaved. “It’s good to have everybody’s faces back,” said Mr. Offner. “Especially Mr. Robert Presley, who patiently grew out his silvery beard for the kids. In fact, I am proud of all of my staff, bearded or not, who worked hard to prepare our students for these important tests. I’m hoping for the best and I can’t wait for the scores to return.”
