Registration

Before completing a NCCHS 2008-2009 registration packet, the student must have a copy of an official transcript and an Illinois Student Transfer Form.

Dress Code

We continue to experience success with compliance to the District’s Policies regarding the dress code and eligibility for participation in athletics and clubs.  Simply stated, policy is:  WHITE SHIRT AND DARK NAVY OR BLACK DRESS PANTS/SKIRT.  As was the policy last year, students not in compliance will be able to call their parent(s) or relative and have someone bring the proper clothing.  If a parent/relative can not bring the proper clothing item, the student will be SENT HOME FOR THE DAY.  Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.

Deans’ Office

Reminder from the Deans’ Office----North Chicago Community High School is a closed campus.  Students are expected to be on campus for the entire school day (8:00am – 2:50pm)

Absences

An absence can not be excused if a student leaves campus without prior parental notification to the attendance or health office.  If a student is to be excused for an important appointment during the school day, the following procedures must be followed:

Parental permission in the form of a note (with a telephone contact number) or phone call must be presented to the Attendance Office.  A dismissal pass for the teacher will be issued to the student if he/she must leave during class. The student is responsible for securing the pass from the Attendance Office before that class period.  North Chicago High School does not page students.  Security personnel will be sent to a class for a student if necessary, however if a student is aware he/she is leaving for an appointment and has secured a dismissal pass from the Deans’ Office, the pass is handed to the teacher and the student then signs out at Attendance.

Parents, if you are dropping off anything for your child please take it to the Attendance/Deans’ Office.

The Deans’ Office will be taking student ID photos.  All students are required to carry their ID at all times for identification purposes as it will be needed for entry to many areas of the building.

Guidance Department– Student Schedules 2008-2009

Each student is assigned to a counselor specifically trained and equipped to meet a variety of needs required by students and parents.  Counselors can be found in the Guidance Department.  Copies of student schedules have been assigned.  Only schedule changes due to academic necessity may be accommodated.  A policy requiring the use of the Request to Change a Student’s Schedule has been initiated and can be found in the Guidance Office.  Only requests using this form and signed by a parent will be considered and must be turned to the assigned counselor.
