District 187 and NCCHS  provide a variety of special education  placements and services to meet the needs of each identified student’s individual needs.

If a parent or teacher has concerns about a student’s progress or skill level, they can request a In Building Team (IBT) meeting to be scheduled with classroom teachers, counselors, deans and parents to discuss the student's needs.

The team develops strategies for student to improve progress or skills and those strategies are implemented for 30 days.

After 30 days of intervention by the appropriate school personnel, the team then decides if testing is needed. A battery of test are given by a school psychologist and the results are discussed at a Multidsciplinary Conference (MDC). At that time eligibility is discussed and placement or services are implemented for the student, if needed.
