Football

Coach Darrell A. King has been coaching for the past 12 years.  The past 5 years Coach King has served as the Freshman and Sophomore Head Coach.  Prior to that he served as a youth football coach with the North Chicago Flames organization.  Coach King is a 1991 graduate of North Chicago Community High School.  Following graduation he attended Grambling State University where he attained a Bachelor of Science Degree.  Coach King also received a Master of Science Degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Science and Medicine located in North Chicago, Illinois.  Entering his 1st season as head coach at North Chicago, Coach King attributes the success of the program to the commitment of the coaching staff, players, parents, administration and community.  Off-season workouts also play a major role in making North Chicago very competitive during the rugged regular season.   

David Lang - This will be my third season coaching boys and girls soccer for North Chicago High School.  Previously I spent one year as Girls JV head coach at Round lake high school.  Preceding my coaching career I played soccer for the 15 years for a variety of clubs and four years at Wauconda High School.   

Bob Eschmann - Coach Eschmann grew up in Indiana where basketball became his “god” at the age 12, but he also played football, tennis, baseball, golf and ran track.  In high school he was involved with FCA at North Chicago since 1984.  Over the years, Coach Eschmann has taken student athletes to various local events aswell as taking them camping, hiking, repelling, white water rafting and skiing in places like Wisconsin, Colorado and North Carolina.  Coach Eschmann has several years of coaching experience in five different sports.  Two of Coach Eschmann’s players have gone on to play at the collegiate level.

Ed Wrather - Coach Wrather is returning to North Chicago with more than 4 years of national level coaching and 13 years of high school experience including 10 years as head coach.  While at NCCHS, his teams became competitive with a Regional birth in 2005-06 season and had the most wins with 17 in the school’s history.  Coach Rather has also helped his players achieve success at the collegiate level.

Nathaniel Lundy, Jr. - Coach Lundy is a 1977 NCCHS graduate who has had his share of athletic success.  He attended Indiana University after being the 1977 High Hurdles state champion for North Chicago.  He was also a football player drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1981.  Coach Lundy was also a finalist in the Olympic Trails. 

Marietta Reynolds - Hi! My name is Marietta Reynolds and I have been teaching French and Spanish for 21 years.  I was a cheer coach at Plano High School for 8 years before coming to North Chicago.  During my 8 years at Plano, I helped the girls go to summer camps and we competed nationally in Kansas City where they placed 9th overall in the small squad division.

Boys' Basketball

Gerald Coleman - Coach Coleman is a 1972 graduate of North Chicago High School and played on the team with most wins in school history – 28.  Coach Coleman previous basketball experience includes a tour in Belgium as a player coach and was the Girl’s Coach at NCCHS from 1999 to 2004.  Entering his 3rd season as the Head Coach of the boys team at NCCHS.

Laurence Brown is the head coach for the North Chicago Girls Basketball program. His experience over the past five years, include Assistant Coach with the Boys’ Varsity Basketball Program. He is currently a paraprofessional at North Chicago Community High School for Special Education.

Herm Edelson - Coach Edelson was born and raised in Chicago. He has been with North Chicago for six years teaching special education and algebra.  Coach Edelson was a national wrestling collegiate, Greco-Roman, and freestyle champion from 1970-1974.
