College Preparation Skills

College Preparation Skills (CPS)
Prerequisite:  None
Credits:  1
Grades:  11
Length:  2 Semesters

This CPS course is designed for the improvement and/or review toward success on the ACT and the WorkKeys, both tests on the Prairie State Achievement Exam.  NovaNet is the program used in the areas of English, Reading, Math and Scientific Reasoning for ACT Preparation.  The Keystraining is used for the MathWorkKeys and the Reading WorkKeys. The students are required to take notes in each unit of each subtest area for the ACT preparation.  Daily attendance and participation are required as there is no make-up time.  At frequent intervals, students will be given practice subtests based on their junior core classes to facilitate test simulation for the PSAE.  In addition, these types of programs such as NovaNet and the Keystraining are similar to the online programs that students will utilize college and in Credit Recovery (if necessary).
